1812 Bicentennial

It's been said that this is the war that defined Canadian as Canadians.

For the next three years, the Southern Georgian Bay Tourism Area will bring to you events to participate in to help celebrate this most important turning point in North American history and this site will be your home, your source, both to plan attendance and view pictures commemorating it.

Again, welcome. We hope you enjoy the festivities and this site.

I saw in a news article that you'd just launched this site last week, so I just wanted to be the first to say congratulations on the new site! I enjoyed the photo gallery. Georgian Bay isn't really a place that I (or, I would guess, most people) think of as being a theatre of the War of 1812, so I think this site will be quite informative (especially when the "Places to Visit" pages are filled in).

We are looking for a group to do a reenactment at our fair Tuesday evening September 11. We are in Brock Township, named after General Brock. Do you have a suggestion of a reenactment group who might help us out?

Dave, first of all let me say congratulations on the opening of this new site. Lets hope there's plenty of discussion as to why this conflict happened and the role First Nation people played in securing the Canada / US border as we know it today.
